Job Description: 

• Process sputum, blood, stool and other clinical specimens.
• Perform tests that aid in the identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other mycobacteria species using conventional and molecular methods.
• Provide training to other staff.
• Cross-train to perform the functions of other positions within the Mycobacteriology laboratory to provide scheduling flexibility and critical backup support.
• Perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, and trouble-shooting when necessary.
• Apply comprehensive quality assurance protocols and activities.
• Work independently and with a team 

The work involves the use of manual and automated methods and instrumentation, pipetting and extensive use of computers all while working within a high containment laboratory, i.e. BSL-3.

Degrees/majors wanted: Bachelor's degree and/or above in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemistry, biology, microbiology, chemical or biological science.
