Jefferson Memorial Forest Volunteer Program AmeriCorps VISTA
| *This position is located at Jefferson Memorial Forest, but is managed through the Americana Community Center.* Located just 15 miles south of downtown Louisville, Jefferson Memorial Forest gives you the opportunity to experience nature at its most spectacular – without leaving the city. The forest has a lot to offer, including diverse volunteer opportunities with Land Management, Wilderness Louisville, and Louisville ECHO (Louisville is Engaging Children Outdoors,) a program initiative focused on improving equitable access to the outdoors for Louisville youth and families. The Volunteer Program VISTA will be responsible for building the capacity of these various volunteer opportunities and engaging the community through outreach. The AmeriCorps VISTA Member will work towards the goal of providing educational, healthy and positive experiences in nature for everyone, by increasing and diversifying the Volunteer base at the Jefferson Memorial Forest & other Natural Areas within Louisville Metro. The AmeriCorps VISTA Member will engage current volunteers and community members, and will work to increase long-term volunteering by researching best practices, implementing new systems and programs, and conducting program evaluations to gather volunteer feedback. |
