We are currently looking to fill a 100% remote Jr. Java Developer position for a large federal government project.

Job Summary

The developer is responsible for participating in the full agile application development life cycle for new development design, construction and testing of Java applications, Web Services (SOAP and REST), and reusable components to support overall project objectives. The developer will also participate in peer reviews and unit testing, and must be adaptable to different responsibilities, possess strong communications skills, and have a passion for constantly improving the individual and team effectiveness.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in developing web-services using SOAP and REST protocols is required
  • EKnowledge of Spring/Hibernate/Struts
  • Experience with Java message Service (JMS) API
  • Experience with a wide variety of testing tools and techniques, ex. JUnit.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and government organizations
  • Understanding and working experience with Git branching and merging
  • Working experience in Application Server (Tomcat / WebSphere)
  • Must have knowledge of software development best practices, including test-driven development, Agile, and/or other rapid application development methodologies
  • BS degree in Engineering or Related field
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with the Department of Veteran Affairs, tools, processes and frameworks
  • Open Source API integrations
  • Cloud platform experience
  • Continuous Integration experience  
  • Medium Level Security Clearance (MBI)
