Student Trainee Public Affairs (Student Trainee USDA Pathways Internship Program)

Summary

This position is in the Office of Public Affairs and Consumer Education, Web and Digital Communications Staff, located in Washington, DC.

This is an Excepted Service appointment not-to-exceed (NTE) one year and may be extended in increments NTE 1 year for up to 8 years in total as long as the student remains eligible for the program.  Upon successful completion of the program and at the agency's discretion, the appointee may be non-competitively converted to a term or permanent position in the competitive service. 

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit web content and other digital communication materials.
  • Assist with the maintenance of Agency websites, apps; such as posting content, site testing, quality assurance (QA), quality control (QC), etc.
  • Write, edit, and strategize social media content.
  • Review website content, organize and track site improvements or content updates to be made and coordinate new content and post content.
  • Create infographics, videos, and other creative projects.
  • Assist with web and digital communication projects.
  • Research and write reports.
  • Pull and analyze metrics and data.

The Student Trainee supports OPACE in the establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships with other internal and external stakeholders affected by Agency programs.
