DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

This position is an anticipated vacancy effective December 1, 2017.

Individual will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of daily operations of a public workforce center. The position involves the direct delivery of service in the following areas: Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA), Reemployment and Eligibility Assessment Program (RESEA), Eligibility Assessment Interview Program (EAI), job training and an active public/employer relations program. Take lead role in training new and existing staff. Work is performed under the supervision of the NCWorks Career Center-Halifax/Northampton Manager.
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial and employment conditions within the state.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accepted interviewing, counseling and employment techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to train lower level employees.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate programs and services related to employment services.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve on a team to do outreach within the community.
Management's Preferences - Prefers knowledge of the organization, operation, and objectives of the Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS); as well as working knowledge of the following: Trade Adjustment Assistance Program (TAA); Reemployment and Eligibility Assessment Program (RESEA); Eligibility Assessment Interview Program (EAI) and Workforce Partners. Cross train on programs offered through Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the Community Colleges. Integrated Service Delivery model (ISD) and Wagner-Peyer services. NCWorks and the knowledge of DWS TIME system.    
 
 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of experience in human resource administration, case management, job development and placement, employment counseling, vocational guidance and counseling, social work, vocational rehabilitation, claims analysis, or related public contact work dealing with job applicants and employers in a variety of functions; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
