Specimen Processor

At Assurex The Specimen Processor will receive, sort, and verify information on samples arriving daily, prior to laboratory analysis and testing. The samples must be received and sorted in a timely and accurate manner. The Specimen Processor must have the ability to check, verify and sort information in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. This position reports to the Laboratory Manager.

? Unpack and prepare laboratory specimens prior to laboratory analysis and testing.
? Verify samples received against shipping manifest.
? Responsible for checking and verifying information received against accompanying order form.
? Identify problems with specimen types, missing information etc. and assigns the appropriate action.
? Responsible for bar code labeling and validation of specimens.
? Must ensure accurate and timely accessioning of patient and testing information into our system.
? Understand the relationship between test(s) ordered and specimen(s) received.
? Scan orders and insurance information
? Maintain client and patient confidentiality.
? Maintain clean and organized processing area.
? Other clerical and office duties as required.
? Assist other departments as assigned.

? High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
? Must possess a valid Driver's License, excellent DMV record and insurance coverage.
? Requires data entry experience.
? Attention to detail and concern for impact is essential.
? Ability to recognize problems and bring them to the attention of a supervisor.
? Exceptional written and verbal skills

? Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
? Ability to work effectively under tight timelines and schedules
