The Opportunity: The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Bridge and Structures Office is currently seeking to fill multiple Bridge Engineer 4 In-training vacancies. You will provide design and construction support for transportation structures of intermediate size and complexity. You will also have the opportunity to coordinate with region offices, WSDOT design specialists, and bridge detailers.

Note: This position has an in-training plan that can be filled at the Bridge Engineer 1 - Bridge Engineer 4 level. The salaries for each position are:
 
Bridge Engineer 1 - $46,596.00 - $62,748.00 annually
Bridge Engineer 2 - $51,504.00 - $69,240.00 annually
Bridge Engineer 3 - $56,844.00 - $76,464.00 annually
Bridge Engineer 4 - $62,748.00 - $84,384.00 annually
 
This position will perform the following work:

  • Perform detailed structural analysis for all types of bridges and structures including structures of major complexity.
  • Conduct structural calculations using computer software and other methods to determine geometrics, member sizes and construction details.
  • Prepare complex detail and layout drawings and sketches.
  • Assure compliance and potentially suggest improvements of bridge design with construction codes and current practice.
  • Review structural designs and act in a consultant role and technical coordinator for consultants and peers.
  • Act as a bridge technical advisor communicating directly with the project engineer and construction support office for questions and problems that may potentially arise.
 
An ideal candidate for this position will have:
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering (completed by June 2018) including at least 27 quarter hours or 18 semester hours of junior, senior, or post graduate structural course work.
