Communications Intern
The House Financial Services Committee is seeking a communications intern for the Washington, D.C. office for Spring 2018. The candidate will gain invaluable exposure to the operations of Capitol Hill and experience as an integral part of the communications team, and develop strong political communications and writing skills. Hours can be flexible, but full-time applicants are preferred. Start and end dates are flexible. Internship is unpaid.
Communications Intern Responsibilities
- Work on time
sensitive projects
- Stay informed
about current legislation/floor activity
- Monitor the media for any financial services
news/editorials/opinion pieces throughout the week
- Monitor the media for member mentions,
op-eds, social media, etc.
- Trendspotting
- Write transcripts
- Prepare hearing room seats for press, witness staff, and committee staff
- Keeping up with long term projects
Office Policies
- Please wear appropriate attire in the office
- In session days – Business attire, no
short skirts or revealing clothing, always have a blazer, cardigan etc. if you
are wearing short sleeves
- Recess days – Please look nice, although you may dress more casual, do not wear any short skirts, tight pants, or revealing clothing
