 Job Description

This position is part of a laboratory that:

  • Performs a variety of highly complex laboratory tests to identify bacterial pathogens of public health significance.
  • Provides laboratory support for detection and characterization of antimicrobial resistant bacteria with a focus on Carbapenem Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE).
  • Is trained towork in conventional microbiological testing and molecular testing.
  • Performs testing of clinical bacterial and reference specimens submitted for culture and/or identification.
We are seeking those who have experience in PCR, gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid sequencing.

Management Preferences:
  • Experience in detection and characterizing antibiotic resistant bacteria.
  • Experience in a clinical diagnostic, molecular, and/ or public health laboratory
  • Ability to work well independently or with a team.
  • Skill in clear, concise, and professional communication, verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Degrees wanted: Bachelor's degree and/or above in the fields of medical technology, clinical laboratory science, microbiology, biological science, or chemistry. Degrees outside of these fields will not be considered due to federal regulations (candidates must meet CLIA '88 requirements for testing personnel in a high complexity laboratory).
