Guidance Counselor - Grayson County Middle School

RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal

1. Supervise and coordinate the guidance and testing program and the adopted cumulative record system. 2. Work cooperatively with the classroom teachers in providing avenues and approaches to the solution of pupil problems such as school, medical, and financial.

3. Administer individual and group tests to establish learner needs.

4. Assist in the preparation, scoring, and recording of tests and test data.

5. Act as liaison between home, parent, pupil, school, and community.

6. Assist pupils in selecting co-curricular and leadership activities appropriate to their needs, interest, aptitude, and abilities.

7. Initiate referrals to agencies providing specialized and supportive services.

8. Collect, analyze, and interpret data needed to evaluate the total guidance and counseling program.

9. Supervise pupils' schedules so that the requirements for high school graduation, college entrance and/or vocational admissions are fulfilled.

10. Provide occupational information pertaining to loans, scholarships, grants, and job placement of pupils.

 11. Provide orientation and information to assist pupils in reaching occupational and career goals and assist in part-time employment opportunities.

 12. Involve Teachers, Principals, and other pupil personnel services in focusing on pupil problems.

 13. Conduct group guidance sessions.

 14. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Principal, Superintendent and the Board of Education.
