Intensive Stabilization Placement Therapist

This team provides community-based trauma education, counseling, support, and stabilization services to children and youth in the foster care system ages 0 -21.  This includes support and education to foster parents to stabilize children's placement. Job includes collaboration with DCFS and private agency providers working with youth in care and foster parents to ensure stabilization can occur. 

Position requires on-call duties and some later evenings. 

Must possess strong clinical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Candidates, prior experience in home-based services and trauma-focused services is desired. Able to complete assessments and care plans. Position covers 5 counties and candidate must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record.   
  
Monday -Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or as needed to meet the needs of clients/families we service

Education:
MA/MS in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling and or related field; License eligible

Experience: 1 year in related field preferred

Other:  Valid Driver's license and an acceptable driving record with OHU required levels of coverage for auto insurance. 


Intensive Placement Stabilization (IPS) provides intensive support to high-risk children in foster care to stabilize placements and prevent entry into higher levels of care. This program operates in Cook County as well as in Southern Illinois. Services are offered out of Charleston, Chicago, Collinsville, Effingham, and Mt. Vernon, Illinois. IPS services cover over 32 counties in Southern, IL. PII is a federal grant that was awarded to IDCFS to improve permanency for youth in care. Illinois selected and is using an evidence-based intervention, TARGET, that is designed to help youth and family members learn how to better manage stress, learn effective emotion regulation, and thus help improve relationships between family members. This modality of counseling services is offered through our System of Care Program statewide.
