Summer Analyst - Joint Internship Program with Cambridge Associates & the Knight Foundation

Curious about institutional investment management?   This ten-week joint internship program with Cambridge Associates (CA) and CA’s client, the Knight Foundation, will allow you to rotate between CA’s Arlington, VA offices and Knight Foundation’s Miami headquarters and will provide you with direct exposure to the financial world. For the duration of the program, you will gain a unique lens into endowment asset management while working as a Summer Analyst alongside dedicated industry professionals in inclusive, knowledge-sharing cultures at both organizations.

Mentorship is fostered here.   To kick off this summer internship, CA’s orientation and training program will introduce interns to CA’s Global Investment Services team and will provide hands-on learning opportunities with global portfolio & fund data, research resources, client work, and investment staff. In the first half of this program, you will work alongside CA Investment Analysts and Directors on current client portfolios and research projects, and assume significant individual responsibility on client deliverables.

Sit on the other side of the table and make a difference.   In the second half of this program, you will experience an endowment in action at Knight Foundation. You will have the opportunity to directly collaborate with the CFO and Finance team on the foundation’s financial management, reporting and regulatory compliance, and oversight of the management of its investment portfolio. You will also gain exposure to efforts supporting the local entrepreneur ecosystem, especially as relates to programs looking to develop or educate new investors. Finally, you will apply the skills you learn over the course of this program towards a culminating presentation to both CA’s and Knight Foundation’s leadership teams.

What can you hope to accomplish throughout the joint internship?

  • Analyze investment managers’ portfolios
  • Gather and analyze historical asset allocation, spending, and performance data
  • Prepare exhibits and other presentation documentation
  • Attend meetings with top-tier investment managers
  • Work on current client portfolios
  • Gain mentorship – from the teams at CA and the Knight Foundation

Who are we looking for?

  • Undergraduate students (any major) - rising Seniors only
  • Demonstrated spirit of collaboration and commitment to diversity
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize and work on multiple stakeholder deliverables
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restriction

This joint internship program is full time (40 hours per week) and runs for ten weeks, from June 11th to August 17th. Housing, relocation and other related or incidental costs or expenses shall be each intern’s own responsibility and shall not be reimbursable by either CA or the Knight Foundation; however, interns are competitively compensated, and some flexibility may exist as to the time spent, as allocated between Virginia and Miami.

Intern applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and, for best consideration, should be submitted before February 9, 2018. Resume, tailored cover letter, and unofficial transcripts are required.

CA and Knight Foundation are equal opportunity employers committed to fostering diverse and inclusive work environments.
