Veteran Outreach Coordinator

Veteran Outreach Coordinator
Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Salary: Commensurate with experience and education
Location: San Angelo, TX
Travel Requirement: Frequent day travel with less than 3% overnight travel
Hours: 08:00 to 17:00, with some variability

Objectives of the Veterans’ Outreach Services program: Our mission is to reduce barriers and ensure veterans, service members, and their families reach their full potential in mind, body, and spirit, using evidence-based counseling, educational, and case management services. The veteran outreach coordinator will provide outreach to veterans and their immediate family members within the WTCG service area and linkage to services offered by the Veteran Services Collaboration.
 
Qualifications:
1.  Experience as a service member, veteran, and/or family member (SMVF). Preference given to combat veterans;
2.  At least one year of experience working in the human services/case management; Preference given to experience with military populations;
3.  Knowledge about the VA, VSOs, social services, and other local community resources;
4.  Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients and community stakeholders;
5.  Strong public speaking and writing skills;
6.  Preference given for training in suicide prevention and crisis intervention;
7.  Must pass comprehensive background check, have driver’s license and reliable transportation, and be insurable;
8.  Preference given to applicants with a degree in a human services related discipline (social work, psychology, sociology, etc);
9.  Preference given to bilingual applicants (English/Spanish); and,
10. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
 
Duties:
1.  Serve as the initial point of contact for veterans and their natural supports and as the liaison between existing local veterans’ service organizations and WTCG veteran outreach services;
2.  Provide community education, marketing, and outreach related to Veteran Outreach Services to the fourteen counties served;
3.  Provide in-service trainings related to military cultural competence as necessary;
4.  Assist with sustainability of the program, to include fundraising and of grant proposals.
5.  Documentation of services provided & reporting as required by funding organizations.
6.  Ongoing needs assessment and identification of Veteran & family needs in the community.
7.  Provide ongoing case management services to participants of the program.
