Programming/IT Internship

As a WestRock IT/Programming Intern, you’ll apply classroom knowledge to meaningful projects which have direct impact on productivity and our company’s bottom-line.  By the end of your assignment, our mission is to have positively impacted your curriculum and career goals in preparation for life after college.

How you will impact WestRock:

Apply your skills to increase efficiency, reliability, and productivity reporting in WestRock's manufacturing environment as you own assignments which support the plant’s continuous improvement projects. In this role, heavy emphasis is placed on safety, teamwork, computer programming and data analysis. 

Job Tasks:

  • Develop automated reporting using our databases and systems. 
  • Data analysis to drive improvements to our reporting processes.
  • Develop a web based or platform based site to view reports.  This must be easy to access from our shop floor, and easy to navigate through.

What You Will Learn: You'll have the chance to hone your programming skills wile learning about the manufacturing process.

Basic Qualifications: You must have hands-on experience with web development, and experience SQL, pulling data, html and javascript.

Experience with one of the following is a plus: ASP.net, Ruby on Rails, Python + either bottle, Django, or flask, PHP, node.js

Education: The internship is limited to students who are sophomore level standing or higher and are pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Shift/Hours: 40 hours a week during the summer.
