2018 Summer Intern - Outdoor Lighting Sales (Indiana)

Job Summary:

 

The Outdoor Lighting group manages the business and growth of the utility’s Regulated Outdoor Lighting products and services in each of the 6 states Duke Energy serves. This group is responsible for the growth and development of Sales for the Outdoor Lighting group in Retail Programs.

 

This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of marketing.

 

 Responsibilities of an intern may include or an intern will be involved with or are expected to accomplish some of the following: 

  • Work with Sales Managers to facilitate the sales of value-added outdoor lighting products and services to Residential, Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional customers by supporting the Sales Managers with data analysis, sales proposal/estimate creation, packaging sales materials for presentations to external customers

  • Supporting customer facing Sales Managers by engaging in outdoor lighting projects in an effort to provide top of class customer service and increase net-profit goals for the company.

  • Build and maintain a leads database in salesforce, contact and qualify leads

  • Prepares thorough and accurate proposal/contract documentation related to any business development initiative.

  • Perform analysis on billing system data to determine target markets within existing customer database to market new products and services to.

  • Perform analysis on third party database (Dodge reporting tool) to determine target markets within potential customers to market products and services to, as well as, finding new markets and opportunities to pursue for business growth.

  • Perform analysis to help maximize the selling prices by understanding competitive positions, Duke Energy profitability, and customers perceived value of the products/services offered.
  • Expected to develop skills in sales and market data analysis

  • Expected to have the ability to work with a high degree of independence.

  • Seek and analyze competitor marketing and sales

  • Enter contact information into contact management systems

  

Working Conditions:

Office and field environment - requires walking, light lifting, infrequent climbing, and occasional exposure to temperature and noise

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or Marketing at an accredited college or university
  • Must have minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Must not graduate before December 2018

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Sophomore to Master’s education level
  • Strong computer skills including some knowledge with Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to provide the quantity and quality of work necessary to reach an accomplishment
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through effective decision making
  • Works effectively with others from diverse backgrounds to achieve common goal

Specific Requirements:

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, appropriate clothing, ear plugs, fall protection, etc.) as needed
