International Trade Specialist

Summary

This position is located in the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) US and Foreign Commercial Service (USFCS) and Global Markets (GM).

USFCS and Global Markets assists companies through in-depth trade counseling and consulting, market intelligence, business matchmaking, trade advocacy, commercial diplomacy, and a variety of other trade promotion programs.

USFCS and Global Markets is looking for an energetic and innovative international trade specialist (ITS) to serve in the Indianapolis office. The ideal candidate will have education or experience in international trade; strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; and a desire to work in an exciting, mission-driven organization promoting and implementing a vision that fosters organizational excellence. This position requires development of a client base, advising clients on market entry strategies for success in foreign markets, executing trade education programs, and collaborating with business, civic and media organizations throughout the State of Indiana.

Responsibilities

As an International Trade Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Plan, develop, and implement export programs and strategies for US companies;
  • Provide information on US Department of Commerce and other US government programs to support expanding trade;
  • Assist US companies in identifying and exploring export opportunities in overseas markets;
  • Respond to requests for information on market conditions, trade opportunities, and problems affecting trade in the region;
  • Analyze trade statistics and contribute to market research efforts;
  • Prepare summaries, articles, or short reports on current trade issues;
  • Develop and maintain appropriate contacts with US industry, US Government agencies, and international organizations involved in international trade.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Domestic U.S. travel is required. Frequent local travel in the surrounding area is required for meetings and trade events.
