Streets General Supervisor

The Street Division presently has two Streets General Supervisors. The Streets General Supervisor is responsible for the efficient organization, supervision and direction of a large number of skilled and semi-skilled employees. The position calls for large scale supervisory skills in directing all Street Division operations such as Solid Waste Collection and Disposal, Street Cleaning, Street Repair, Snow & Ice Control, Weed Control and Stump Removal. The Streets General Supervisor must exercise considerable good judgment in developing schedules and procedures for work details and is held responsible for obtaining satisfactory results.

The Streets General Supervisor must use effective supervisory abilities to assure the efficient and safe performance of their operations. They are also responsible in part for the preparation of budget estimates, policies and goals, cost accounts, work layouts, records, public relations and employee-union relations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least four (4) years of progressively responsible positions in public work maintenance and/or construction activities.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience involving public works maintenance activities; which included functions such as hiring, discipline and/or investigations.
-OR-
  • Possession of the two (2) year degree in fleet management, construction management, supervisory certificates, or other related degrees.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible positions in public work maintenance and/or construction activities.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience involving public works maintenance activities; which included functions such as hiring, discipline and/or investigations.
 -OR-
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in business administration, management, operations, logistics or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience involving public works maintenance activities; which included functions such as hiring, discipline and/or investigations.
