Administrative Student Trainee

Are you interested in making your government more efficient and effective to improve health, health care and the delivery of human services? Would you like to receive on-the-job training and provide administrative support while in school that could lead to a permanent career in the federal government?

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is looking for passionate, innovative and inspired administrative professionals to perform a variety of administrative and technical duties in the areas of administrative services and organizational management. The position provides the opportunity to support senior staff in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of various health programs, communications and marketing activities. As an Administrative Student Trainee, you will perform the following, but not limited to:

Collect and analyze data from a variety of sources for briefing materials, talking points, presentations, reports and correspondence for senior officials.

Create and disseminate presentations, position papers and reports;

 

Compile and analyze survey results.

 

Maintain office coordination of program workflow assigned to organization staff.

Manage and disseminate all incoming correspondences within a timely manner.

Prepare correspondence, reports, graphs/charts, forms, and other office support materials using office automation equipment and other appropriate software.

Organize and track incoming and outgoing materials (e.g., correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other written communications).

 

Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to support business applications.

Assist with formulating short-term and long-term risk mitigation measures by preparing assessment reports with solution recommendations.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in administrative and office management related work.

 

Pathways Intern Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the Pathways Internship Program, you MUST be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges) or professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate on a full or half-time basis.

 To be eligible for the position, you MUST be currently enrolled at the time of application or be accepted for enrollment in the Fall 2018 Term; you MUST maintain enrollment through the Fall 2018 Term and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

 NOTE: You MUST provide proof that you are currently enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment in the Fall 2018 Term at least on a half-time basis. You will be required to provide an official transcript showing proof of enrollment and GPA at the beginning of each term, while in the Pathways Internship Program.

Key Requirements:

Must be a US Citizen before conversion to career-conditional appointment

Must be registered for Selective Service, if required

You must be suitable for Federal Employment, determined by a background investigation

Proof of student status must be submitted with the application.

All applicants must be in good academic standing

Students must provide official transcripts if selected.

Student must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better

Must sign a Pathways Agreement before entry onto duty (EOD)
