Medical outreach and science communications internship

#MEAction is a global, grassroots network for people with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis based in Los Angeles. We're seeking a summer intern passionate about medical education and science communications to support our efforts to bring new clinicians and researchers into this growing field.

This internship is ideal for an undergraduate with an interest in science or medicine, as well as a passion for social justice, medical disparities, and translating complex medical and scientific topics to the public.

Activities may include:
  • Writing articles and reports summarizing medical research for a general audience
  • Working with our medical association partners to support the development of medical school and continuing medical education curricula
  • Supporting outreach to medical schools and associations
  • Contributing to our wiki of scientific research on ME and related conditions (e.g., Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia, Mast Cell Activation Disorder)
  • Developing a global database of clinicians, research organizations, and patient support groups
Qualifications:
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Demonstrated work ethic
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Pre-med or biology major preferred
  • Demonstrated personal, academic or professional interest in the above conditions, neurology, immunology or infectious disease a plus!

Start and end dates are flexible. Part or full-time possible.
