Overview: Retail Business Segment Strategy

Humana’s Retail business segment is comprised of Medicare and Medicaid, two multi-billion dollar businesses which collectively generate the majority of the company’s revenue and earnings.   Be a part of the Retail Strategy team and partner with the senior leaders of the Retail segment, and more broadly with leaders throughout the enterprise, as the team completes strategy projects that address the business segment’s most pressing issues and challenges. These high profile strategy projects place the small team at the forefront of helping to define the future of Humana’s largest businesses.

 

The role: Medicare Strategy Analyst

Humana is seeking an Analyst who will work with fellow team members to identify solutions and recommendations to high level strategic challenges prioritized by the Retail leadership team. You’ll deconstruct issues and challenges, conduct targeted research and analysis, and craft sound, logical solutions and recommendations. You’ll also help to identify implementation considerations for recommendations, and help to transition work from your project into execution by business owners.

 

Recent projects include development of the annual strategic plan for the Retail segment, identifying new ways to deliver care to Humana’s members, analyzing the performance of Humana’s largest business, and identifying improvement opportunities for a business area. 


Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing analysis and/or work streams within high-profile, high-impact strategy projects
  • Supporting interviews and working sessions with leaders within Retail and across the company
  • Conducting industry, market, competitor, and financial analysis and identifying insightful implications for Humana
  • Creating high quality analysis and sections of deliverables that clearly frame objectives, issues, and challenges, and articulate insightful findings and recommendations
  • Working collaboratively with fellow team members and leaders across the company

  • Strong problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to perform complex qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Strong record of leadership in a work setting and/or extracurricular activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

  • Strong commitment to personal and professional growth


Role Desirables

  • Finance, accounting, engineering, business, or technical focused undergraduate major


Reporting Relationships

  • You will report to the head of Retail Strategy and work closely with the entire Retail strategy team
