Information Security Intern - Summer 2018

Edelman Financial Services, one of the nation’s largest and most well-known financial planning firms, is seeking an Information Security Intern for our Fairfax, VA location.

This position will serve to provide assistance in all areas of information security. You will have an opportunity to participate in various projects allowing you to develop your strategic, organizational, and team building skills.

Responsibilities (assignments may include responsibilities in one or more of the following areas):

• Information Assurance - Certification & Accreditation, Policy implementation, and Compliance
• Network Security - penetration-testing, vulnerability assessments, and computer forensics
• Learning the NIST Framework and the regulatory environment we deal with in the financial sector.
• Writing procedures around policies that exist for the company.

Requirements:

• Open to current college students or up to 1 year after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in information security/computer science, computer engineering or a similar major.
• Coursework and/or experience in Information Security / Cybersecurity, Privacy and Protection
• Understanding and interest in evolving cybersecurity landscape.
• Understanding of NIST or likeminded frameworks.
• A great attitude and hunger for learning.
• Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Understanding of common ports and protocols
