Benefits Manager

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Develops, administers and communicates employee health and welfare benefit programs including salary continuance, group insurance and pension programs.  Maintains regulatory compliance and monitors processing of employee benefit claims to assure the most cost-effective administration and highest employee satisfaction.

Primary Tasks:

1.      Implement and administer group benefit plans and policies efficiently and effectively through thorough understanding of plan concepts and principles, administrative procedures and legal requirements.

2.      Supervise subordinate staff through effective performance appraisal, coaching and mentoring, and professional development.

3.      Establish and monitor performance metrics by which to gauge the quality of service delivery and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.

4.      Counsel users at all levels throughout the Nation to make the most efficient and effective use of our benefit plans.

5.      Monitor payments to brokers, plan providers and other vendors to assure effective cost control.

6.      Interface effectively with internal and outside auditors to fulfill reporting requirements to management and government agencies.

7.      Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

·        Bachelor’s degree in employee benefits administration or equivalent

·        Thorough understanding of federal, state and local laws and regulations, related to benefit plan descriptions and administrative processes

·        Ability to solve problems and identify opportunities to improve processes

·        Sound management skills

·        Effective presentation skills

·        Ability to communicate employee benefit plan features clearly and accurately, so that associates are able to use our plans effectively

·        Five year’s directly related benefits management experience
