Project Controls Intern Needed in Cincinnati, Ohio This Summer

The Infrastructure Division of Arcadis seeks an Project Controls Intern to join the team in Cincinnati, Ohio this summer.
 
This role requires Project and Program Controls knowledge in the disciplines of Project Controls, including Planning & Scheduling, Cost Management, Risk Management and Document Control. The successful candidate must possess solid technical, organizational, and communication skills. A college history that represents increased levels of knowledge on a progressive basis is important.
 
Knowledge must include experience with Microsoft Office software, particularly SharePoint, MS Excel and MS Word. This position will report to the Senior Project Controls Specialist in charge of this requisition.
 
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Review, update and organize Project Controls procedures and technical documents.
  • Provide technical support in production of work product.
  • Support the review of cost and resource loaded program, project, and sub-project schedules.
  • Support the development of reports with charts, graphics, references, and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to conduct schedule review meetings with Project Controls team.
  • Review cost estimating functions, including quantity surveys, assessment of appropriate inflation factors, and pricing based on R. S. Means Cost Guides.
  • Support estimate validation and budget reviews to clients and Contractors.
  • Assist with the coordination within the Program and Project Controls Community of Practice.
  • Develop and maintain good communications with the Program and Project Controls Community of Practice on tasks.
  • Maintain and apply current company standards in producing task.
  • Identify, help develop, and implement new process improvement plans and strategies, working with the Director of Program Controls.
  • Assist in developing technical proposals.
  • Participate in industry professional associations at local, regional, and national levels.

 
*Required Qualifications
  • Education required: Working on a Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or another construction related subject.
  • Good understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Strong technical knowledge in CPM scheduling, estimating, and time-related claims analysis techniques on construction projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge in Primavera scheduling products and software support packages.
  • Good technical background in Microsoft Project scheduling software products.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly SharePoint, MS Excel and MS Words.
  • Excellent communications skills, both orally and in writing.
*Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of AACE International’s Recommended Practices.
  • Knowledge of PMI PMBOK Guide.
  • Knowledge of RSMeans CostWorks.
  • Knowledge of Oracle/Primavera Project Management (P6) software.
  • Participation in the Construction Management and Project Controls professional associations.
