EAST TENNESSEE STATE FORESTRY INTERNSHIP
Salary $11.54
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry is seeking a paid intern to assist with Forestry Practices across on various state forests in the East Tennessee Forestry District during the Summer 2020 season (June 1 - July 31, 2020). This position will require the selected candidate to assist the East Tennessee District Forestry office with state forest management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in Forestry Management Practices at East TN State Forests:
  • Assist with intermediate treatments
  • Assist with compartment planning and date collection
  • Assist with timber sale administration
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
  • This is a paid internship
  • THIS IS A PHYSICALLY DEMANDING INTERNSHIP
  • Some travel required; no formal lodging provided (contact East TN District Forestry Office for more information)

  • Working Conditions: Mostly Field Work with some office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • High School Diploma
  • Be in Pursuit of a Forestry or other applicable degree
Essential Knowledge and Required Skills:
  • Basic Knowledge of forest management such as dendrology, mensuration and silviculture

  4. Two (2) letters of recommendation -- it is encouraged to find individuals who can illustrate your qualifications, character, and commitment to public service.
