Wildlife Husbandry & Research Internship Spring/Summer 2018

Spring/Summer positions can be any length longer than 6 weeks starting after March 6th.  Onsite housing is available to interns committing to at least 30 hours per week.

Provide direct care to sanctuary and rehabilitation animals in care at the wildlife center and complete an independent project that meets the requirements of the interns academic institution and benefits the center.  Feeding/watering designated in measured amounts using diet instructions.  Cleaning enclosure which may include raking, weeding, sweeping platforms, and climbing ladders up to 8 foot areas.  Launder towels and bedding as needed.  Empty and wash/sanitize dishes daily.  Learn to identify animals as individuals.  Write detailed animal care notes as directed.  Assist medical staff with care for rehab animals.  Identify potential health issues in animals and ensure notes are provided to the medical staff.  Follow all directions provided.  Must be willing and able to work around skunks, raptors, bobcats, and coyotes.   Assist with intakes of new rehab patients from the public and agency rescues.  Develop independent project to be completed by the end of the internship term.

Internships are available year-round for a minimum commitment of at least 6 weeks up to 6 months. The animals at the Wildlife Center need care 7 days a week, 365 days per year.  Clean and refresh the hippo pool

 Share in cleaning the intern house once per week (if living on-site)

 Develop independent project and complete it by the end of the internship term
